The APIDEA Nucleus Hive - A Versatile Nuc Hive for Beekeeping
The APIDEA Nucleus Hive is made from high-quality rigid foam and provides a compact, versatile solution for establishing and developing nucleus colonies, housing honey bee swarms and queen rearing.
Weighing only approximately 3.5 kg, the nucleus hive is lightweight and easy to transport. The robust rigid foam provides good insulation properties while ensuring convenient handling during everyday beekeeping activities.
Flexible Hive Body System for Swiss Frames
The APIDEA Nucleus Hive is designed for Swiss frames. A single hive body accommodates up to 8 Swiss super frames. When two hive bodies are stacked together, the hive accommodates up to 8 Swiss brood frames.
Thanks to its modular design, individual components can be replaced or added as required. The hive bodies are equipped with aluminium frame support rails that provide stable support for the frames.
Versatile Applications
The APIDEA Nucleus Hive is ideal for creating splits, housing and developing young bee colonies, and temporarily housing captured swarms. It is also a practical solution for queen rearing.
A honey bee swarm can easily be introduced into the hive from above and provided with feed. A compatible APIDEA feeder extension is available separately for additional feeding capacity.

Expansion and Replacement Parts
The APIDEA Nucleus Hive can optionally be expanded with a compatible feeder extension. All components are also available individually as replacement parts. This allows damaged components to be replaced easily and existing nucleus hives to remain in use for many years.
